Ok so I haven’t been around the world, but I am traveling for work (and I’m working in a space where my boss can walk up behind me and see my computer, which is why the blogging has been light. Don’t think she’d appreciate seeing videos of Ellen Aim or Falco. I’ll be back in an office with a closable door next week).
Anyway, there are four things putting me in a good mood (despite some minor stressful things what are going on right now, including a brutal four-day battle with insomnia):
(1) I’m in my adopted hometown of Boston! Yay! I spent most of my formative adult years here, so I feel like I’m home. Few places make me happier (when I’m in my real hometown of Detroit, on the other hand, I usually feel weepy. And not from nostalgia).
(2) My Red Sox are playing the Yankees tonight. It’s the perfect sporting event! Ok, well maybe, if it doesn’t rain. And it would be better if it was not raining AND I was at Fenway Park watching the game. But I will be in almost as good a situation, because:
(3) I will be with some of my dearest friends in the world, in a bar in Boston watching the game. Yay! These are folks who I love, and only get to see every few months, so I am very excited. (I’ll fill you in on all the details later). And topping off the good day is the fact that:
(4) I found out from my blog idol Trent that today is Lisa Stansfield’s 42nd birthday. If you know me, you know that I immediately went to iTunes for some impulse shopping (I really should not store my credit card number with them. A deadly mistake. I have no self-control). Anywho, I’m listening to “All Around the World” for about the 16th time as I get ready to hit the bar. One of the greatest pop tunes EVER! And this used to be my karaoke bar joint, so I’m sure all the people in nearby rooms of my hotel hate me. But it cannot be helped. “I did too much lyiiinnnn’/wasted toooo much time/Now I’m here and cryinnn’/I-I-IIIIII!”
Lisa, wherever you are, happy birthday honey!
Go Yanks!
Sorry…
Ok, they play each other 18 times this season - do we really want to start this?
