Many people find this blog by accident, searching the web for various things. The number one search that brings people here is for the song New Shoes by Paolo Nutini (seriously – at least a few times a day somebody Googles something to the effect of “Hey, I put some new shoes on” and finds my post about my Michael Kors oxfords that includes the video).
Anyway, Paolo’s tune is not an Elleen’s Essential track. That honor goes to the artist that drives the second most traffic to this sight: Neil Diamond. Seriously, there are a lot of Neil Diamond fans on the interwebs! I get tons of hits every time I mention him, and I almost always end up chatting with other Neil fans on blogs and email. It’s lots of fun. Anyway, on to the song:
Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon, Neil Diamond. Love it! The cool, twanginess of the guitar matched with the pleading tone of his voice makes this song so fab that I am completely unbothered by the slightly-creepy-verging-on-pedo lyrics. (In my mind, I assume the song comes from the point of view of a guy who is not much older than the girl. That makes it less creepy). I will forgive Neil for not performing this at the show I saw in August 😦 . I love ya anyway, ND!
Yep. I can confirm this. I got here through a shared ND love.
Isn’t he dreamy in that video?
